 Low Temperature Plasma Jet Generator

Product Detail

The ACS Material jet-type low-temperature plasma system produces a neutral (electrically non-charged) plasma with ion and electron energies of 6–10 eV, delivered as an open-air jet that needs no vacuum chamber. Because the ejected plasma flow is non-charged and cool, it can modify, clean, and etch a wide range of surfaces — polymers, metals, semiconductors, rubber, and PCBs — and drops straight onto a production line. It is widely used in automotive manufacturing (headlights, glass, aluminum plates, sealing strips, brake pads, mirrors, dashboards, bumpers, and new-energy components) and across plastics, electronics, textile, and coating industries. The line spans several models in two families: power-adjustable models for fine and general work, and adjustable-width models for wide-area coverage.

Key features

  • Produces a neutral, non-charged plasma, safe for treating metals and products containing electronic components.
  • Runs at low temperature, suitable for products with heat-sensitive surface materials.
  • Requires no enclosure or vacuum chamber and installs directly on a production line.
  • Consumes only air and electricity, for low operating cost and safer operation.
  • Generates no ozone and no chemical pollutants, compliant with environmental regulations.

How jet-type low-temperature plasma works

The equipment consists of a plasma generator, a gas-delivery system, and a plasma nozzle. The generator produces high-voltage, high-frequency energy that ionizes gas inside the chamber to form low-temperature plasma; airflow then carries that plasma out through the nozzle. When the plasma meets a material surface, it drives chemical and physical changes — altering the surface molecular structure and introducing functional groups such as hydroxyl and carboxyl. These groups sharply raise surface energy and promote adhesion, so coatings and adhesives wet out and bond far better. The result is a very thin, high-tension treated layer achieved without mechanical abrasion or wet-chemical pretreatment. Because the plasma is electrically neutral and non-conductive, it can be aimed directly at metals and assembled electronics without arcing, and because it runs in open air at atmospheric pressure, no vacuum system is needed.

Model range & specifications

The models are organized into two families. Power Adjustment models focus on fine-to-medium jet widths; Adjustable Width models cover wide-area treatment. All standard models feature adjustable output power and run on AC 220 V input at 22 kHz; rated power, gas flow rate, treatment speed, and gas-supply configuration vary by model — see the tables below. Across the series, treatment speed spans 10–500 mm/s, depending on the model and treatment process.

Plasma gun options

All models in this series use a direct-jet plasma gun. The gun family covers a range of nozzle geometries — from fine, low-flow-rate tips for precision work through round and flat nozzles to wide rotary nozzles — so the plasma footprint can be matched to the part being treated.

ACS Material direct-jet plasma gun options: models P1, P2, P3, P4, H3, P10, and XP-40MM to XP-80MM
Direct-jet plasma gun options across the ACS Material jet-type plasma series.

Different nozzle geometries produce different plasma footprints, from a narrow low-flow jet to a wide rotary plume:

Plasma flame footprints by nozzle type: low-flow-rate nozzle 2 to 5 mm, round nozzle 10 to 15 mm, flat nozzle 15 mm, rotary nozzle 20 to 90 mm
Plasma flame by nozzle type: low-flow-rate (2–5 mm), round (10–15 mm), flat (15 mm), and rotary (20–90 mm).

Frequently asked questions

How do I choose between the Power Adjustment and Adjustable Width families?

Choose a Power Adjustment model (PG-1000ZD/P15MM, ZD, ZE, ZH) for fine-to-medium jet widths from 2 to 15 mm — ideal for precise or general-purpose treatment. Choose an Adjustable Width model (PG-1000Z/F, Z/G, Z/FK) for wide-area coverage from 20 up to 90 mm. Within each family, jet width, treatment speed, and gas-supply method are the main differentiators.

What is low-temperature (cold) plasma?

It is a partially ionized gas generated at atmospheric pressure in which the reactive chemical species do the surface work while the gas stream stays near room temperature. This lets it treat heat-sensitive plastics, films, and assembled electronics without thermal damage.

What materials can it treat?

Because the plasma is electrically neutral and non-conductive, it treats polymers, metals, semiconductors, rubber, PCBs, and composite assemblies — including products containing electronic components. Typical goals are cleaning, surface activation, and adhesion promotion before bonding, printing, coating, or labeling.

What gas and utilities are required?

The units run on compressed air (or a specified feed gas such as oxygen or nitrogen) and AC 220 V power — no vacuum chamber and no chemical consumables. Feed gas should be clean, oil-free, and water-free. Required gas-source pressure depends on the model (see the specification tables); some models use a vortex booster station.

Does it produce ozone or chemical waste?

No. The process generates no ozone and emits no chemical pollutants, which simplifies installation and environmental compliance compared with wet-chemical or flame pre-treatment.

Can you build a custom system?

Yes. In addition to the standard generators, ACS Material designs custom low-temperature plasma treatment equipment — including multi-head, sealing-strip, and fully inline production systems — around your specific part and throughput. Contact us to discuss requirements.
