ALab™ D1008 Palm Micro Centrifuge
Product Detail
ALab™ D1008 Palm Micro Centrifuge is a palm-sized spin-down centrifuge for quick spins, microfiltration and routine sample preparation. It reaches 7000 rpm and 2680 ×g, starts on closing the lid, accelerates and brakes in seconds, and runs at ≤ 45 dB from a 160 × 170 mm footprint. Both rotors and both adapters are supplied with the instrument.

Why choose the D1008
Is this the right centrifuge for your tubes?
A centrifuge is chosen on two things before anything else: whether a rotor — with an adapter where one is needed — exists for your tube format, and whether that specific configuration reaches the relative centrifugal force your protocol calls for. The tool below first resolves a published tube / rotor / adapter path and checks its RCF capability; optional filters then compare published timed-operation, user-storable program memory and PRP / PRF / CGF workflow features. Its second tab converts speed to RCF for configurations with published or derivable path data.
Model: RCF = r · ω² / g with ω = 2πN/60 and g = 9.80665 m/s², equivalent to RCF = 1.118 × 10⁻⁵ · r[cm] · N². Where the manufacturer publishes a rotor radius it is used directly; otherwise the radius shown is derived from the published maximum speed and maximum RCF — the value that reproduces the published pair. Neither value was independently measured by ACS Material. The plotted curve is anchored to the manufacturer-published maximum pair: RCF(N) = RCFmax × (N/Nmax)²; the displayed radius is retained as source information. Real RCF varies with the radius at which the sample actually sits, tube geometry and load. Selection considers tube-path compatibility, maximum RCF capability and the optional published control features selected in the tool. It does not account for refrigeration, throughput, footprint, price or every protocol-specific requirement. Where the manufacturer publishes no radius or path-specific RCF for an adapter configuration, that path is flagged for confirmation rather than counted as a match. A schematic teaching tool, not selection software.

Tube format decides before g-force does. The D1008 accepts microtubes and PCR formats only — there is no 15 mL or 50 mL rotor for it, so larger tubes rule it out regardless of the RCF required. Within its own formats it reaches 2680 ×g, the highest published maximum RCF in the current launch range. For 15 mL and 50 mL work see the low-speed models; for PRP, PRF and CGF programming see the Q0408E. Use the selector above to compare on both axes at once.
FAQ
Do I need to buy the rotors and adapters separately?
No. Both rotors and both adapter packs are supplied with the instrument. The catalogue numbers on this page are provided so that replacements or additional sets can be ordered individually.
How much g-force does the D1008 actually deliver?
Up to 2680 ×g at its maximum 7000 rpm, on both rotors. The manufacturer publishes a single operating point for this model rather than a selectable speed range, so 7000 rpm / 2680 ×g is the figure to plan against.
Why does a palm centrifuge reach more g than a larger low-speed model?
Because RCF depends on radius and on the square of the rotational speed. A small rotor turning at 7000 rpm can exceed a larger rotor turning at 4000 rpm even though the larger rotor has more than twice the radius. Speed is squared; radius is not.
Does the D1008 have a selectable speed?
The manufacturer publishes a maximum speed of 7000 rpm and continuous, lid-activated operation; it does not publish a user-selectable speed range, a minimum speed or a speed increment for this model. Plan against the published 7000 rpm / 2680 ×g operating point.
Can it spin 15 mL or 50 mL tubes?
No — the published rotors cover 0.2 to 2 mL tubes and PCR strips only. For 15 mL and 50 mL formats, see the low-speed models in the range.
Does it have a timer?
The D1008 is rated for continuous operation and is started by closing the lid; it is designed for short spin-downs rather than timed protocol runs. Where a set run time, programmable segments or an RCF display are required, choose a model with a manufacturer-published timer, adjustable speed or programmed-control function.
How loud is it, and does it move on the bench?
The manufacturer states a noise level of ≤ 45 dB. The instrument weighs 0.5 kg with a 160 × 170 mm footprint; as with any small centrifuge, load the rotor symmetrically and place it on a level, stable surface.
