Product Detail

ALab™ DM0412 Low-Speed Centrifuge is a clinical and biochemical centrifuge for whole-blood separation, serum and plasma work. It runs from 300 to 4500 rpm in 100 rpm steps, can be set and displayed in either speed or RCF, and is offered in two non-interchangeable rotor configurations: A12-10P for 12 × 10 mL or 8 × 15 mL tube formats at up to 2490 ×g, or DM0412(A6-50P) for 6 × 50 mL or 6 × 15 mL at up to 1800 ×g. Select the configuration at quotation; the two rotors are not interchangeable. A brushless DC motor, door interlock, overspeed detector and automatic internal diagnosis are standard.

ALab™ DM0412 — two non-interchangeable rotor configurations, speed or RCF setting, and a door interlock with overspeed detection

Why choose the DM0412

Two non-interchangeable configurationsThe A12-10P covers vacuum blood collection tubes from 13 × 75 mm to 16 × 107 mm; the DM0412(A6-50P) configuration takes 50 mL or 15 mL tubes. Each carries its own rated speed and RCF, and the two rotors are not interchangeable — the configuration is selected at quotation.
Set in rpm or in gSpeed and relative centrifugal force are both selectable and displayed, which removes the conversion step when a protocol specifies g rather than rpm.
Quick spin and short-time runA press-and-hold pulse key gives a short spin without setting a timer, alongside timed runs from 30 seconds to 99 minutes and continuous operation.
Safety as publishedDoor interlock with electric lock and automatic release after the run, overspeed detector, automatic internal diagnosis, and a high-strength plastic rotor. CE marked, cTUVus, and passed the explosion-proof test.

Rotors and adapters

Both rotors are high-strength plastic. The A12-10P and A6-50P are not interchangeable; the configuration is selected at quotation rather than swapped by the user. A per-tube table is published for the A12-10P giving the radius and maximum RCF for each tube dimension and adapter combination; the values below are the maxima for each rotor.

Where it fits · The centrifuge range

The widest tube coverage in this range. The DM0412 is the only model here that accepts the full span of vacuum blood collection tubes — 13 × 75, 13 × 100, 16 × 75 and 16 × 107 mm — and covers 15 mL two ways — 8 places with the A12-10P configuration at up to 2490 ×g, or 6 places with DM0412(A6-50P) at up to 1800 ×g. The 50 mL format requires DM0412(A6-50P). For microtubes and PCR formats see the D1008; for PRP, PRF and CGF programming see the Q0408E; for a compact 15/50 mL machine at a higher RCF see the DM0506.

Is this the right centrifuge for your tubes?

Where a centrifuge is offered in more than one rotor configuration, the headline RCF belongs to one of them only. The A12-10P reaches 2490 ×g, while the DM0412(A6-50P) configuration for 50 mL work is rated to 1800 ×g — and within the A12-10P itself, an adapter that seats the tube closer to the centre lowers the radius from 11 cm to 9.8 cm and the maximum RCF from 2490 to 2218 ×g. The tool below resolves the full tube / rotor / adapter path before reporting a figure.

Model: RCF = r · ω² / g with ω = 2πN/60 and g = 9.80665 m/s², equivalent to RCF = 1.118 × 10⁻⁵ · r[cm] · N². Each configuration carries its own radius, labelled published where the published data state it and derived where it is back-calculated from the published maximum speed and RCF. Neither value is a measured value. Selection resolves a tube / rotor / adapter path and checks the path-specific RCF where it is published; otherwise the configuration is flagged for confirmation. It does not account for refrigeration, throughput, footprint or price. A schematic teaching tool, not selection software.

FAQ

Which rotor gives 2490 ×g?

The A12-10P, at its maximum 4500 rpm, with tubes seated at the full 11 cm radius. The A6-50P belongs to a separate, non-interchangeable configuration rated to 4000 rpm and 1800 ×g.

Why does the maximum RCF change when I use an adapter?

Because relative centrifugal force depends on the radius at which the sample actually sits. The published figures are 11 cm and 2490 ×g for tubes seated directly, and 9.8 cm and 2218 ×g for shorter tubes carried in the A10P15 adapter with a plug. Same rotor, same speed, different radius.

Can I have both rotors on one instrument?

The A12-10P and A6-50P are not interchangeable, and the second is listed as a separate configuration, DM0412(A6-50P). Choose the configuration that matches your tube formats at quotation. Braking settings differ between the two rotors; follow the operating manual.

Can it be set in g rather than rpm?

Yes. Speed and RCF are both selectable and displayed, so a protocol specified in g can be entered directly.

Does it have a short-spin function?

A press-and-hold pulse key gives a quick spin without setting a timer. Timed runs cover 30 seconds to 99 minutes, and continuous operation is available.

What are the published safety features?

Door interlock with an electric lock and automatic release after the run, an overspeed detector, and automatic internal diagnosis. The instrument is CE marked, cTUVus listed and has passed the explosion-proof test. Load rotors symmetrically and never exceed a rotor’s rated speed.
