Why choose the MS-H380-F Series

A mantle sized to the flaskEach model is built for one nominal flask volume and one mantle inner diameter: 70, 90, 115, 142 and 181 mm for 100, 250, 500, 1000 and 2000 mL round-bottom flasks. Order by nominal volume, and please contact to us first if your flask differs in size or geometry.
Stirring and heating in one instrumentA brushless DC motor drives stirring from 100 to 1500 rpm, held to ±10 rpm, alongside heating in the same unit.
External temperature sensor inputA PT1000 external temperature sensor input, rated ±0.2 °C. Temperature control accuracy is ±1 °C below 100 °C and 1% above it. Please contact us to confirm the control mode and probe configuration for your order.
Layered protectionTwo independent safety circuits, overheat protection at 500 °C, overcurrent and ground-fault protection, a HOT warning on the display above 50 °C after heating stops, and a keypad lock. When the timer ends, heating stops while stirring continues.

±0.1 °C is the published temperature display accuracy, not a display resolution and not a system control accuracy. The ±0.2 °C figure belongs to the PT1000 sensor itself. The two voltage and frequency pairs are the published electrical versions, not an unrestricted universal input — specify the version at quotation.

Selecting a model

Match your flask volume to the corresponding model and check its mantle inner diameter. If your flask differs in size or geometry from the nominal volume, send us the dimensions and we will confirm before quoting. We do not publish a heat-up time for these mantles — time to temperature depends on the charge, the fill level, the glassware, whether a condenser is running and the ambient conditions.

Construction and control

The housing is an integrated metal casing with a powder-coated finish. Inside it, a glass-fibre inner sleeve and aluminium silicate wool insulation form the heated well. The stirring drive is a brushless DC motor: spark-free, low-noise and maintenance-free in normal use.

Control is by touch panel with settings for temperature, speed and time plus a lock, and a quick-adjustment knob. The LCD carries speed, temperature and time. Status is shown by indicator light: steady green at the set temperature, blinking green while heating towards it, red on a fault or alarm. A buzzer sounds three beeps when the countdown finishes. A dual-side temperature-sensor bracket is part of the design.

RS232 is fitted as the data connector. We do not publish a communications protocol, register map or logging software for this series, please contact us at quotation if the instrument has to feed a data system and we will confirm what is possible.

Safety features

Protection behaviour.
FeatureBehaviour
Dual safety circuitsTwo independent circuits monitor the instrument continuously. On overheating or sensor failure it raises an error and stops heating; on a short circuit it cuts power automatically.
Overheat protection500 °C
Residual heat warningAbove 50 °C after heating is switched off, the display flashes a HOT warning.
Electrical protectionOvercurrent protection, ground fault protection and over-temperature protection.
Safety lockPrevents accidental changes to the operating status.
Timer end behaviourHeating stops at the end of the countdown while stirring continues. The instrument does not switch itself off.

These protections reduce specific failure modes; they do not make a heated reaction safe to leave without supervision. Follow your own laboratory's rules on heated apparatus, and note that the well and the flask stay hot after the display stops calling for heat.

Configuration and scope of supply

Please let us know the model and the electrical version you need — 100–120 V, 60 Hz or 200–240 V, 50 Hz — and we will itemise exactly what ships with your order, including whether a PT1000 probe, support rod and clamp are included.

Applications

We supply this series for organic synthesis, polymerization, distillation and purification, sample dissolution and extraction, sample pretreatment before analysis, and catalytic reaction kinetics research. Our customers are technicians in chemical, biological, pharmaceutical and materials companies, researchers in universities and research institutes, and quality control analysts in pharmaceutical, food and environmental laboratories.

For anything outside that list, suitability depends on your chemistry, your vessel and the rest of your apparatus — ask us and we will advise. We do not publish chemical compatibility or wetted-material data for this series, so we make no chemical resistance claim here.

FAQ

What differs between the five models?

Six values change: nominal flask volume, mantle inner diameter, heating power, total power, dimensions and weight. Everything else — temperature range, speed range, timer, sensor input, connector, protection class and protections — is the same across the series.

Which model should I order?

Match your flask to the nominal volume for each model, then check the mantle inner diameter. If your flask differs in geometry or size, please let us know the dimensions and we will confirm before quoting.

Why a mantle rather than a hotplate stirrer?

A heating mantle presents a formed well shaped to a round-bottom flask, which is why mantles are the usual heat source for round-bottom glassware; a hotplate stirrer presents a flat surface suited to beakers and flat-bottomed vessels. We have not run a comparative heat-transfer test between the two, so we make no performance comparison here.

What does the PT1000 input provide?

The instrument takes a PT1000 external temperature sensor rated ±0.2 °C, and its temperature control accuracy is ±1 °C below 100 °C and 1% above it. We do not publish how the control loop behaves with and without the probe fitted, please contact us to confirm the control mode and probe configuration for your order.

How long does it take to reach temperature?

We do not publish a heat-up time for these mantles, so we will not quote one. What we do publish is the heating power for each model and the 25–380 °C control range. Time to temperature in practice depends on the charge, the fill level, the glassware, whether a condenser is running and the ambient conditions. Please contact us and let us know your application and we will discuss it through.

Can the timer be used to run a reaction overnight?

The timer covers 1 minute to 99 hours 59 minutes, and at the end of the countdown heating stops while stirring continues; the instrument does not switch itself off. That is a function, not a substitute for supervision. Whether any heated reaction may run without an operator present is a matter for your own laboratory's risk assessment and rules.
