ALab™ DMS7-550M 7-Inch Digital Hotplate Magnetic Stirrer
Product Detail
The ALab™ DMS7-550M 7-Inch Digital Hotplate Magnetic Stirrer heats and stirs on one 184 × 184 mm glass-ceramic plate. It heats from room temperature to 550 °C in 1 °C increments, and its brushless DC drive stirs up to 20 L of water across 50–1500 rpm in 1 rpm increments. An external PT1000 sensor, accurate to ±0.2 °C, lets the controller work from the liquid temperature rather than the plate. The DMS7-550M is the strong-magnetic version of our 7-inch range.

Specifications for the ALab™ DMS7-550M. Input is 100–120 / 200–240 V, 50/60 Hz — contact us to confirm the input arrangement for the unit you order. Values are typical; we confirm the final configuration on your quotation.
Control and display
One LCD carries the set and real-time values for speed, time and temperature together, with two control knobs and three keys. The RS232 port and the 1 minute to 99 hour 59 minute timer are part of this model’s specification.
For the control detail behind them — selectable heating modes, safety-temperature setting, keypad lock and alarm behaviour — contact ACS. We will confirm in writing what the unit you are quoted actually does. We would rather answer a specific question than list features we have not verified for this model.
Scope of delivery
The DMS7-550M takes an external PT1000 temperature sensor, accurate to ±0.2 °C. We confirm the probe part number, support hardware, stirrer bars and the full scope of supply on your quotation. We don’t list contents we haven’t confirmed for your order, and items shown alongside the instrument in the photograph are there for context rather than as a packing list.
FAQ
What does the M in DMS7-550M mean?
It marks the strong-magnetic version of our 7-inch range, intended for viscous media. Its motor output is 50 W, against 10 W for the unheated DMS7. We don’t publish a maximum viscosity, torque or magnetic-force rating for this model, and we haven’t measured the two against each other — so if your medium is demanding, tell us what it is and we will advise rather than guess.
Can the instrument control on the liquid temperature rather than the plate?
Yes. An external PT1000 sensor, accurate to ±0.2 °C, connects to the controller. Temperature control accuracy in heating liquid is ±1 °C below 100 °C and ±1% above 100 °C. Those are two different figures — the first is the sensor, the second is the control loop working in the liquid. We don’t publish the test conditions behind them or the behaviour at exactly 100 °C. Accuracy in your own vessel also depends on probe placement, vessel geometry, fill level and stirring.
What happens at the end of a timed run?
The timer covers 1 minute to 99 hours 59 minutes. Contact us to confirm the end-of-countdown sequence for the unit you are quoted before you build it into a method. The plate may remain hot after heating stops. Whether any run may be left unattended is a decision for your own laboratory procedures, not something this page can settle.
What does the waste-heat warning do?
The waste-heat warning value is 50 °C. Contact us for the exact indication behaviour, including whether it persists once the mains supply is disconnected — we would rather confirm that in writing than have you rely on it. Treat a hot plate as hot regardless of what the display shows.
Is the plate resistant to solvents and acids?
The plate is glass ceramic, which handles spills and cleaning well. We don’t publish a chemical-compatibility table, so we won’t make a blanket resistance claim — tell us your media and we will confirm suitability before you order. The protection class is IP21, which covers vertically falling drips; no other ingress or chemical-exposure rating applies to this instrument.
How does the DMS7-550M compare with the DHP7-550 and the DMS7?
All three are 7-inch models in the same ALab™ range. The DMS7-550M heats and stirs. The DHP7-550 heats only. The DMS7 stirs only, at 10 W motor output against 50 W here — it shares the 20 L water rating and 50–1500 rpm range, but we haven’t measured the two against each other, so don’t read that as equivalent stirring performance. Contact us for availability of the DHP7-550 and DMS7.
