ALab™ MS7-H280-G 7-Inch Infrared Magnetic Hotplate Stirrer
Product Detail
The ALab™ MS7-H280-G is a 7-inch infrared magnetic hotplate stirrer built around a full-coverage infrared heating element and a 180 × 180 mm microcrystalline glass work plate. It stirs up to 20 L of water at 100–1500 rpm and heats to 280 °C in 1 °C steps on 900 W of heating output. An external PT1000 sensor lets you measure temperature in your medium rather than at the plate, an RS232 connector links the instrument to a computer for remote control and data logging, and overheating protection plus a “hot” surface warning are built in. Weighs 3.7 kg.

Specifications are typical and may vary. Note that the three temperature figures describe different things: control accuracy is ±1 °C below 100 °C and ±1% above, sensor accuracy for the supplied PT1000 is ±0.2 °C, and display accuracy is 0.1 °C. The 20 L maximum stirring quantity is rated for water. Confirm product details, electrical configuration, supplied accessories and application suitability with us at the time of quotation.
What you receive
Supplied with an external PT1000 temperature sensor and a support stand with clamp. Your final configuration — accessories, quantities and part numbers — is confirmed on your quotation, please contact us what you need and we will build the set around it. Electrical supply: 100–120 / 200–240 V, 50/60 Hz; confirm your supply voltage and plug type with us when you order. Connection: RS232 data connector.
Choose the MS7-H280-G for its heating element and its work plate. Among our magnetic stirrers this is the 7-inch model that pairs full-coverage infrared heating with a microcrystalline glass plate rated to 280 °C — the combination to pick when you care about even heat and a surface that survives daily use. Our range also includes the MS10-H500-Pro, MS-H380-Pro, DMS4-550, DMS5-280, DMS5-340M, DMS7-550M and the stirring-only EcoStir. Please let us know your volume, temperature and vessel, and we will point you to the right one.
FAQ
What does full-coverage infrared heating do for me?
The element spans the whole plate, so heat arrives evenly across the surface with fast response and minimal overshoot — useful when you are holding a setpoint rather than just reaching one. We do not publish a heat-up curve for this model, so if time-to-temperature is critical to your protocol, please let us know your volume and vessel and we will advise before you order.
How accurate is the temperature control?
Three figures, and they describe different things. Plate control accuracy is ±1 °C below 100 °C and ±1% above 100 °C. The external PT1000 sensor we supply is accurate to ±0.2 °C. The display reads to 0.1 °C. If you need to hold a specific tolerance in your medium, please let us know the application — we will confirm what this model will do for you before you commit.
Will it stir 20 litres?
20 L is our rating for water, on one stirring position, with a magnetic bar up to 80 mm. It is a stirring rating rather than a rated heated duty, and other media behave differently depending on viscosity, vessel geometry and fill depth. Please let us know your application and we will tell you whether the MS7-H280-G is the right model or point you to a better fit in the ALab™ range.
What supply voltage does it need?
The MS7-H280-G is available for 100–120 V and 200–240 V supply at 50/60 Hz, drawing 920 W in total. Confirm your supply voltage and plug type when you order and we will ship the right configuration.
What can I do with the RS232 connector?
It connects the instrument to a computer for remote control and data saving — useful where your protocol requires a record of stirring and temperature parameters. Contact us for protocol and cable details when you order so your setup works on day one.
Does the plate stay hot after I switch it off?
Yes, and the instrument will have an indicator to let you know that it is still hot. A “hot” warning flashes whenever plate temperature is above 50 °C, even with the heater off, and overheating protection cuts in at 340 °C. Let the plate cool before handling it. IP21 protection guards against dripping liquid; it is not a rating for immersion, washdown or use in a flammable atmosphere.
ALab™ is a trademark of ACS Material, LLC. Disclaimer: specifications are typical and may vary; confirm product details, electrical configuration, supplied accessories and application suitability with us at the time of quotation. The capabilities listed above are individual ratings rather than a combined duty — assess vessel, medium, volume, temperature, viscosity and safety conditions for your own application, and ask us if you are unsure. A heated work plate stays hot after the heater is switched off: observe the “hot” warning and let the plate cool before handling. IP21 protection is not a rating for immersion, washdown or use in a flammable or explosive atmosphere. Confirm chemical compatibility between your samples and a microcrystalline glass surface before use, and follow your laboratory’s safety procedures for heated stirring and for the solvents in use.
