InSitu Pro™ APE120 and APE120V bring sub-ambient microscopy without cryogens: Peltier (TEC) electric cooling and heating cover −25 °C to 120 °C at the flip of a switch — no liquid nitrogen, no dewars, no refills. A large copper 40 × 40 mm stage carries bigger samples than the LN₂ family, in an atmosphere chamber (APE120) or a vacuum chamber (APE120V) that suppresses condensation during sub-zero work.

Do you even need LN₂?

The planner below is this family's home turf: the TEC curve is the Peltier engine, rated to a −25 °C floor. Set your target — if it sits at −25 °C or above, the APE120 series gets you there on electricity alone; colder targets belong to the LN₂ family.

Model: controller-limited linear ramp with a Newton-type approach near each technology's floor. APE120 or APE120V — which one?

Pick by what happens below 0 °C. In air, a sub-zero stage grows frost and dew that ruin imaging; the APE120V's vacuum chamber removes the moisture supply, keeping optics clear through long −25 °C holds and giving you a controlled sample environment. If you work mostly above room temperature or in short sub-ambient dips, the simpler APE120 is all you need.

Peltier or the LN₂ family?

Decide with your coldest target. At −25 °C or warmer, TEC wins on simplicity: no cryogen logistics, instant start, clean bench. Below −25 °C — or above 120 °C — step up to the LN₂ optical family (−190 to 600 °C). The simulator above makes the crossover obvious.

What fits on a 40 × 40 mm stage?

Nearly 3× the area of the LN₂ family's stage: larger specimens, several samples side by side for comparative runs, or complete small devices — with copper's thermal conductivity keeping the surface uniform.
