Product Detail

ALab™ RE100-S LED Digital Rotary Evaporator is a benchtop laboratory rotary evaporator for evaporation, vacuum distillation, separation, sample concentration and solvent recovery. Digital LED controls display rotation speed, bath temperature and operating time; the brushless DC drive turns 50–3000 mL flasks at 20–200 rpm; and the 5 L water/oil bath reaches 180 °C under PID control — with independent temperature control, so the bath doubles as a standalone heating bath.

ALab RE100-S LED digital rotary evaporator with vertical condenser, 1000 mL evaporating and receiving flasks and 5 L heating bath
ALab™ RE100-S complete package — main unit with manual and auxiliary lift, 1200 cm² vertical condenser, 1000 mL flasks and the 5 L water/oil bath. Shown with the optional protective shield (Cat. No. 18900789), which is not included in the standard package.

Why choose the RE100-S

A heating bath that works on its ownThe 5 L water/oil bath has independent temperature control, so it can be used separately as a standard laboratory heating bath — two instruments in one footprint. Water and oil modes switch with a single switch.
LED digital control + USBDigital LED readouts show rotation speed on the main unit and bath temperature on the heating bath, with operating time and interval clockwise/counterclockwise rotation (1–999 s) for drying processes; a USB interface is built in.
Precise positioningManual lift with 110 mm stroke combined with a 100 mm auxiliary lift, plus an adjustable immersion angle, places the flask exactly where you want it in the bath.
Layered protection220 °C overheating protection, boil-dry protection that powers the bath off when heating without water or oil, and a high-temperature warning above 50 °C — with an ejection mechanism for easy flask exchange.

Find your working vacuum

A rotary evaporation system lives on the interplay of pressure and temperature: lower the system pressure and the solvent boils at a gentler temperature. Pick your solvent and drag the pressure to see where the boiling point lands:

Model: Antoine vapor-pressure equation lg P = A − B/(C + T) for pure solvents within published coefficient ranges; the bath and condenser guides follow the Δ20 °C (20/40/60) rule of thumb, and the 13 mbar line marks the C410 reference ultimate vacuum. Curves are schematic teaching aids, not performance data for a specific solvent lot or system.

Matched pump & controller. Routine rotary evaporation of common solvents calls for an oil-free chemistry diaphragm pump around 10–15 mbar and, for reproducible bump-free runs, a programmable vacuum controller — the matched C410 chemistry diaphragm pump (13 mbar · 25 L/min) and VC100 vacuum controller (1–1000 mbar, 5×5 programs) are specified with your quotation.

FAQ

RE100-S or RE100-Pro — which one?

Both support 50–3000 mL evaporating flasks, use a 5 L water/oil heating bath, deliver up to 1.56 L/h water evaporation, and share the same glassware family. The RE100-S uses an LED display, a manual lift with auxiliary lift and a 1200 cm² condenser; the RE100-Pro adds an LCD, a 150 mm motorized lift with automatic lift-out on power failure, 20–280 rpm and a 1700 cm² condenser. Choose the RE100-S when manual positioning is preferred; choose the RE100-Pro when a motorized lift and a higher maximum rotation speed are priorities.

Can the heating bath really be used on its own?

Yes — the 5 L bath has independent temperature control, so it works as a standalone water or oil bath when it is not carrying the evaporator, with the same PID accuracy and boil-dry protection.

NS 29/32 or NS 24/40 — which glassware standard?

Pick the joint size that matches your existing flasks: NS 24/40 is commonly used in US labs, while NS 29/32 is commonly used internationally. The two packages are otherwise identical, and both accept the entire RE100-Pro glassware range.

1200 or 1700 cm² condenser?

The standard package ships with the 1200 cm² vertical condenser, which suits routine solvent removal. The optional 1700 cm² condenser is available for applications that benefit from additional condensing surface or greater vapor-load capacity — ask for it at quotation.

What vacuum pump does it need?

A chemistry-design diaphragm pump reaching roughly 10–15 mbar covers routine work with common solvents — oil-free diaphragm designs are preferred because solvent vapors pass through the pump head. Use the simulator above to check that your target boiling point is reachable at your pump’s ultimate vacuum.

How do I choose bath temperature and vacuum together?

Start from the Δ20 °C rule: set the vacuum so the solvent boils about 20 °C below the bath, and keep the condenser about 20 °C below the vapor temperature. The interactive tool on this page computes it per solvent.
