InSitu Pro™ AH200-Mini, AH600S, and AH800S are heating-only optical stages: when your work starts at room temperature and goes up, they are the simplest way there. Three ceilings to choose — 200, 600, or 800 °C — all with ±0.1 °C stability and 150 °C·min⁻¹ heating, from the palm-sized chamberless Mini to the stainless-steel-staged AH800S for serious high-temperature optics.

High-temperature atmosphere: plan for oxidation

The Mini runs fully open; AH600S and AH800S run in an atmosphere chamber. When operated in air, oxide growth on many metals and alloys becomes significant approaching 600–800 °C, rising steeply with temperature; under diffusion-controlled conditions it is often approximated by parabolic kinetics. Hold a sample for an hour at your working temperature and see:

Model: parabolic oxidation x² = k·t with an Arrhenius rate constant — an approximation for diffusion-controlled oxidation, not every material or temperature; the vacuum panel illustrates the model response when the oxidant supply is suppressed. Takeaway: oxidation-tolerant samples — oxides, ceramics, many minerals — are at home here; if your sample must come back chemically intact, look at the vacuum-chamber models such as the ACH400SV (vacuum service to 400 °C). FAQ

Which of the three?

Decide by your hottest point, then by footprint. Everything under 200 °C on small samples: the palm-sized Mini. Up to 600 °C with full reflection/transmission optics: AH600S. Pushing to 800 °C: AH800S, whose stainless-steel stage takes the heat. All three share the same controller platform and 150 °C·min⁻¹ ramping.

What if I need cooling too?

These are heating-only stages — the cooling rate on the way down is controllable, but there is no active refrigeration below ambient. If your protocol needs active cooling or sub-ambient points, step over to the ACH600S/ACH400SV (LN₂, −190 °C, 40 °C·min⁻¹ cooling) or the Peltier family (−25 to 120 °C, cryogen-free).

Will my sample oxidize at 600–800 °C?

If the stages are operated in air, many metals and alloys can oxidize rapidly at these temperatures — the rate depends on composition, surface condition, temperature, atmosphere, and exposure time; the simulator above gives a schematic comparison. Some oxides, ceramics, glasses, and minerals may be more suitable, depending on phase stability, atmosphere compatibility, and exposure time. For oxidation-sensitive samples the vacuum-chamber ACH400SV covers up to 400 °C; above that, confirm the intended operating atmosphere at quotation.

Where does the Mini fit?

Anywhere a full stage will not: its 40 × 40 × 12 mm chamberless body and φ20 mm copper stage make it the quickest way to put controlled heat under any microscope, probe rig, or crowded bench — reflective work up to 200 °C.
